Description of the area:

Casma Peruvian Province is one of the twenty provinces in Ancash Department, part of the Ancash Region, Peru. Is the capital of the province of the same name, is located at km 375 of the Panamericana North.

Casma bordered on the north by the Province of Santa, on the east by the provinces of Yungay and Huaraz,  south Huarmey Province and west to the Pacific Ocean.

This province extends from the western slopes of the Cordillera Negra, to the coastal zone of the Pacific Sub-Region.

Casma River is the main watercourse that crosses the northern part of the province's main right bank tributaries of the river Sechin and left the Rio Grande.

Casma is characterized by year round warm temperatures, and hence is known as the "City of Eternal Sunshine."

It is found 30.9  m.s.n.m. All year round is sunny and mild weather is dry, its temperature is 32 º C in summer and 26 º C in winter.

Access:

This paved road usually takes 5 hours and 15 minutes. The route can be made ​​directly, the transport is by bus, and these buses depart and return from Lima to Casma daily in the mornings and afternoons. The companies moving from this route are: Tepsa, Ormeño, among others.

Attractive Touristic:

Sechin Alto Archaeological Complex:

Sechin Alto was the political center the culture Sechin, who shared it with the archaeological Mojeque, located in the valley of casma.

Is the most important archaeological complex of pre-hispanic America for its monumental architecture and planning mammoth, which belongs to the early formative period and with atlleast 1600 years.

Sechin Bajo Archaeological Complex:

It is a circular temple with a square low level of beautiful architecture, which would be the most important part of the complex due to its archaeological and architectural value.



Pampa Colorada:

It is located at approximately 15 km from the town of

Casma, along the left margin of the Yautan road.  The discovery of large lines, similar to those of the Nazca plain, carved into the arid soil was a significant find.  There are numerous geoglyphs in the shape of animal, human, and mythical creatures.

Chankillo:

It is a stone fortress consists of three ovoid walls. It is also a natural viewpoint, is built on top of a hill. From there you can see by the side of the desert and the other Casma Valley and also part of the valley of Sechin.

The fort is a building of three concentric walls and ovoid. In front of her in the middle of the pampa on a hillock are "the thirteen towers," a set of cubic constructions aligned. It is likely that these structures contained in some ritual, perhaps related to the lunar calendar.

Gramita beach:

At 26 km. from the city of Casma (35 min. by car)

This beach is located as part of the foothills that reach the sea from the hill Tortuga. The coast presents a curve and the beach is sandy.

Some walls of the rocks are shown in straight generating U-shaped passages which can also be accessed by sea.

Tortugas Beach:

At 20 km. Casma (30 min drive)

Its waters are clear and calm, ideal for marine activities, as well as swimming, fishing, diving, yachting and practice spear fishing. This beach is ideal for water sports.

In the summer months it is visited by people coming from different places especially Casma, Chimbote, Huaraz and Lima. For the inbound tourism, Tortugas has good restaurants and hotels that cater to the public permanently.

Gastronomy of the Zone:

 We can find typical dishes in markets and restaurants called “Picanterias”

With the “Ceviche de Pato ”  Casma has become the gastronomic capital of “Norte Chico”.

Ceviche de Pato: It is Duck macerated in orange juice and lemon

Dishes such as "Seco de Cabrito", "Pepian de Pava" (This is the most representative dish, and it is common to eat it in town fests.) and "Ceviche" cooked with the coolest of all Fish make Casma an obligatory Place to stop on the route to any destination.
